EXPANSION!!!!!

Post by AixusXXIX on Tue Jun 09, 2015 7:00 pm

It was morning, more like dawn. The silence that was present was a peaceful type. The hard work of The Big Three and all the other members was paying off. The dark metropolis that stood below the grand floating castle in this otherwise barren world had become an impenetrable fortress of sorts. No heartless attacks, or any attack for that matter in the past 2 years. Even the missing numberless fiasco had died down. It was a peaceful existence.

The silence that filled the air was broken by a key being pushed the its keyhole and being turned sideways. What followed was the sound of a door opening and closing again. There it was again. The silence that filled the hallways before had returned, not being able to stay away for long. A sigh leaves Aixus as he looks over at the digital clock next to his bed. "On." he said, breaking the silence once more. The in his room turned on, revealing his very neat, but dusty room. He hadn't been there in weeks. He hadn't gotten sleep in days and it showed.

The bags under his eyes were noticeable and his skin was paler than normal. He covered his mouth with his elbow as he coughed into it.

I understand that you're you and all, but you need to get some rest. And I'm not talking about a fifteen minute nap.

"I'll be fine." He said, setting his digital clock to ring in 15 minutes.

Your body is giving up on you. Is it really worth it?

Aixus clenches his fist and grits his teeth. "Of course it is. I will not let our future come to pass. Even if every fiber of my body withers away, even if every ounce of my blood boils over, I will see this city protected." He said in a slightly firmer tone, as he lays down on his bed. Just as he put his arm over his face, covering his eyes, he felt a vibration in his left coat pocket.

Aixus let out another sigh as he reached into his pocket to pull out a device. It closely resembled a regular communicator, but anyone with a communicator of their own could tell that it was different. Aixus sat up and put the device on his nightstand.

If you take on another task now, your body will surely fail you. It doesn't matter if it is physically, mentally, or emotionally; your body will fail you when you need it to pull through the most.

Without saying a word, Aixus simply ignored his inner self and proceeded to press on the device to play the holo-message. As the contents of the message played, his eyes widened. He forced himself off the bed and out the door. He ran up to the round room as fast as he could. Upon getting there he uses the entrance as support as he looked up, panting, at the two people there; Kexan and his guardian, Muraxami.

Realizing his current display showed too much weakness, he stopped panting and stood up without support. He started walking towards the duo. Upon reaching the middle of the room, he threw his device at Kexan. "Play it. I believe it's the opportunity we've been waiting for: Expansion." He said loudly as he kept walking closer until he was only a few feet away from the two.

Re: EXPANSION!!!!!

Post by Kexan XV on Thu Jun 18, 2015 5:22 am

As I sat in my throne, of sorts, I began to contemplate at the fact that the city had become unstable.
It left me very uneasy on the subject. I wondered why I'd only heard of this through rumors and why none have approached me on the matter. It was very bizarre and quite questionable.

Just as I had started to get in depth with my thoughts, my head slowly tilted downwards and I had begun to nod off.

Not a moment sooner; Aixus, my loyal assassin, arrived looking rather distressed.
His communicator was tossed at me and nearly took my head off before catching it.

I look wide eyed at Aixus at the mention of Expansion.
With complete interest, I navigate through Aixus's messages while attempting to ignore the hundreds of messages to and from Clerxha.

I press play to view his latest message.

A silhouette appeared and began to speak.

"Greetings assassin. Yes, we know who you are. Tales of your exploits have reached deep within the Dread Sector and have sparked my Master's interests."

"Do not be alarmed. My Master simply wishes to employ you using the skills you possess. You will, of course, be rewarded."

"If you are not interested in my Master's offer, I recommend ignoring the rest of this message."

I look towards Mura, looking extra interested in this message, and back to Aixus, who nods and expects me to listen to the rest.

I eagerly wait for the rest of the message to play.

"Your assignment is as follows. You are to arrive at your designated world posing as a courier for one of the King's son's trusted guards. Every 28 days, a courier arrives on world with reports on rival Kingdoms for the King. As you probably already guessed, you are to remove this courier and replace him with yourself. Use of force is permitted."

"Once in the couriers garbs, you are to meet with the guard and hand him the couriers reports as usual. However, there is a process in order to prevent unwanted guests, such as yourself. Before you hand the guard the reports, you must start with the phrase, "Y a-t-il une librarie...." After you hand the reports, finish the phrase with, "près d'ici?" Do not forget."

"The guard should then let you within the Kingdom to see the King's son. Do not pass the second window. You will wait from a distance while the guard and the King's son arrange your outgoing package. Once you receive this package, the guard will allow you to let yourself out. A usual repeated mistake on his part."

"If all went well, you should be safely within the Kingdom without any hindrances. This is where your skills come in. The Kingdom will be heavily guarded as you make your way to the King's chamber. Now I'm not talking about average medieval knights here. The tech they have within their walls is pretty high tech for how they look. The King should be there if the alarms have not been set off. If you decided to take a gung-ho approach, and set off the alarms, he will have an escape route to an underground bunker that is much more protected."

"The King is your obvious target. Once he's taken out, the rest will fall into place. However, there is one thing you must know about the King. He is immortal. Our planted agents say the King's choker is what gives him everlasting life. If this is true, there really isn't a reason to have so many guards, is there."

"If you can complete this simple task, we will be sure to reward you as well as let you keep your spoils."

I'm jolted awake by the beep of the message ending.

I look down at Aixus with his ready eyes.

"Nothing is worth this much trouble, not even another Kingdom of our own."
"Obviously, our messenger underestimates your abilities."
"If you wish to take on the request, do it your way."
"I recommend you take a small squad to make this go by much quicker."
"In fact, take number 25 with you."

Aixus nods at Kexan's words. He then glances over at Muraxami. This mission is definitely not suited for him. Aixus then starts to feel an intense pain in his chest. Though excruciating, he doesn't let it show. A corridor of darkness leading to his room appears behind him and he turns to walk through it.

Upon getting to his room, he collapses on the floor, coughing up an excess amount of blood. After a while of just coughing, he staggers to his feet while panting heavily. He slowly walks over to his bathroom and looks at himself in the mirror. He opens the medicine cabinet and grabs a little clear bottle that had three cyan colored pills in it.

What are you doing? Aurora Pills are a temporary fix! They also leave you in a worst state than when you took them once their effects wear off! You'd do well not to take one, not now anyway!

"Don't worry. I will be taking one. One isn't enough to get me back to full strength, I'll be taking all three." he said, swallowing all three pills at one. His eyes glowed cyan and his color came back to his face. He was able to stand straight and walk normally.

Y-you are a fool.

Aixus turns and walks over to his nightstand.

"I recommend you take a small squad to make this go by much quicker."
"In fact, take number 25 with you."

He opens his drawer and pulls out a tablet if sorts. He turns it on and begins looking through it. "Number 25...number 25...number....There he is. Gexka. Never met him. Tell me all you can about number 25: Gexka"

Gexka. Member number 25. Self proclaimed Object Removal Specialist. Crimes comited: Over Nine Thousand. Numbers of times detained: 897. Number of times released: 0.

"Wait. Hang on. Explain."Aixus says, interrupting the machine with his curiosity.

Member number 25 Gexka has ability to phase through walls at will. He is also very crafty, being able scheme his way out of most situations. These two things combined make it very easy for him to escape imprisonment. He is known to let himself be captured at times to "See the look on their faces when they see me missin!" As stated by him at an unknown time.

His pros are that he is very handy in stealth tactics as well as taking things from others without their knowing. He's also very creative in battle, using his creative mind to close any power gap there might be between him and his opponent.

Despite his many strong points, there are enough shortcomings present. He's not very serious when it counts. He's very immature and naive, to the point where it becomes unbearable at times. If you wish to find him, I will display his coordinates now.
The tablet finshes talking and displays Gexka's current location on the screen.

Aixus sighs, "Of course" He says before changing into his mission attire and grabbing his weapons. A corridor of darkness opens again and Aixus walks through it. Walking out of the corridor, Aixus looks around.

There were many different display cases around with jewelry. At the display case with the most expensive of all the jewelry there was a creative immature naive object removal specialist having the time of his life. Aixus walks up behind him, his muffled steps not allowing Gexka to notice his presence, let alone hear him coming.

Aixus stood there for a while, just watching Gexka as he enthusiastically put all the jewelry in the bag. "You know...you should really be aware of your surroundings." he said, waiting to see Gexka's reaction.

I don't betray even a hint of surprise at the unexpected voice behind me. I continue to stuff my sack completely unperturbed. I do however, give a vigorous nod at the advice given without turning around. "You're absolutely right! How could I be so blind? I almost missed this gorgeous example of Ethiopian craftsmanship. And that fine specimen of Oriental silver over there." I nearly lay across the display table reaching for a large silver necklace, richly adorned with small sapphires. Using the distorted reflection from the necklace, I finally take a peek at the person behind me. While the voice seems somewhat familiar, it's only with this quick look that I was able to identify the intruder intruding on my intruding.

'Aixus! Shit! What's one of the big three doing here? And in full battle garb too. And are those weapons!?  Crap! I could have sworn I pinned all the evidence for the live giant squids in the all the bath tubs on Rixup.' While every part of me wants to make a break for it I force myself to stay calm. If he had wanted, he could have obliterated me while my back was turned. Instead, I focus on figuring out how I was snuck up on. I can feel that the poison ivy barricade I used to block the entrance to the store is still completely intact and since almost any other means of entry would have made some noise, I assume he entered using a dark portal.  Still, that’s no excuse. I shake my head and tut; both at my failure to have seen the two expensive pieces of jewelry and at my failure to have noticed Aixus's entrance. "I must be losing it."

I stuff the necklace in the sac and after sweeping the rest of the display in as well, finally turn around. "So what's a Grand Poobah like yourself doing here? I bet you heard about the 100% off sale. Looking to snazzy up a bit? Some new cufflinks perhaps?" I glance at his cuffs and realize how ridiculous cufflinks would look on any form of combat gear (guess I should remove mine). "No, no, no. What am I saying? You're here to get a gift for Clerxha, am I right? Hmm, maybe those emerald earrings." I walk over to a nearby display. "Or..." I widen my eyes as a mischievous grin creeps onto my face. "You sly dog you. You're finally going to pop the question to Clerxha!" I rub my hands together and rush over to a case of engagement rings. I quickly pop the locks on the case and begin setting the rings out. "Hmm, this one? No, he can afford much better. How about this one? Nah, the third diamond's a fake. Oh I know!" I rush back over to my sack a begin rummaging through it, throwing out the jewelry I just put in as I go. "I know I've got the perfect ring in here somewhere. It’s got this sort of emerald sapphire fusion in the center and the whole thing’s surrounded by diamonds." I haven't looked back at Aixus yet, but I hope I've thrown him a bit off his game.

Aixus looks at Gexka with a confuse look at first. Can you tell me what's happening? Because I don't know why this kid is acting so strange.

From the looks of it, he thinks you're here because he's stealing. Remember, you are the closest thing to law enforcement around here.

Yeah, but I couldn't care less about what he's doing right now, the mission is more important.

But Gexka doesn't know that. You heard the computer, he's very crafty. Might as well take advantage of his thought process to get him to join you in your mission.

Ahhhhhh, I see. You're right, that's a good idea. Okay, let's give it a go.

Aixus changes his expression to his naturally intimidating one. "You know, Gexka, you've been stealing a lot of stuff lately." he said in a cold tone. "And frankly, you've caught the attention of our leader, Kexan, who has ordered your execution." Room slowly starts to fill with a light fog. "However, I'm not a person without a heart....well...I am, but still. I'll let you live under 2 conditions." He said, walking closer to Gexka. "The first of the two conditions is that you will accompany me on an off world mission, one that you will be briefed on on the way there. And the second, is that you give me a platinum necklace with a nice sapphire gem on it.....for *clears throat* classified motives....what do you say?" Aixus said, putting his and on his blade for intimidation.

It's actually disguating how little effort you have to put in to be intimidating.....

Muraxami looks at Kexan as Aixus leaves to go and prepare. He looks at his master with a brow raised and an emotionless expression.

"So, you think he can do it Master? Even with the help of 25, Aixus's state of body is not the best at the moment.. I mean look at how he entered the room for crying out loud.. His over compensation to make it look as if he was fine was clear as day."

Mura looks at the recorder in Kexan's hand and looks towards the doorway. He sighs as Kexan begins to dose off, as usual... He jumps off his high chair and walks out of the room to the Cafeteria, knowing his presence is not needed.

Re: EXPANSION!!!!!

I let out a sigh as Axius refuses to give any response to my antics besides looking at me like I’m crazy. So he’s either too dimwitted to understand anything I say (which I highly doubt) or he’s one of those no-nonsense types that lost their funny bone in some tragic accident. Another sigh. I really can’t stand those types. Anyway, when I find that ring I was looking for I flick it at Aixus’s head because the confused expression on his face hasn’t changed. (It’s like he’s having an internal debate or something.) I guess that was the wrong move as his expression quickly changes from stupefied to menacing.

I listens as Aixus speaks. When he mentions execution I tense up and immediately turn intangible. To be honest, I’m less frightened now that Aixus has placed his threat on the table than when I had no idea what he wanted. But it’s better to be safe than sorry and there’s still a part of me that’s implanted with the almost reverential fear of the big three that was instilled in me when I first arrived in the city. I’m 95% sure that my intangibility can get me out of here unharmed, but the other 5% is whispering ‘but it’s Aixus.’  It’s partly because of this fear but mostly because of curiosity, that I stay and hear Aixus out instead of bolting. I even grin at his pitiful heart joke.

A real smile breaks across my face when I hear his two conditions. I can now easily see that the threat is fake and that Aixus really just wants me for whatever this mission is. I turn tangible and visibly relax. “How about next time, you just start with a job offer. Trust me, it works a lot better than trying to scare the crap out of me. Though I have to commend your efforts; have you ever considered becoming an elementary school teacher?”

I bend down and scoop up one of the items I threw out of my bag. It’s virtually the exact piece of jewelry Axius just requested, with a few extra diamonds thrown on. I toss it to him. “If you want I can engrave ‘classified motives’ on that right now." I let out a small chuckle and then get down to business. “So what do you need me to break into?” I figure he wouldn’t come to me unless he needs something brute force alone can’t obtain. And since exploding and entering is my specialty, it makes sense that what he can’t obtain is behind some tightly locked doors. “When are we leaving? I just need to grab some stuff from my place before we go.”

Aixus catches the necklace thrown at him by Gexka. He looks at it and puts it in his pocket. "No need" he said to Gexka's offer to engrave it. At this point, Aixus has stopped trying to act intimidating and is acting like his true self. The fog dissipates along with the act of intimidation. Aixus walks passed Gexka. Before passing him, he stops next to him.

Putting his hand on Gexka's head, he says, "Silly Gexka, there's nothing you can break into that I cannot." Aixus lets out a friendly smile before taking his hand off his head and continuing to walk.

He's probably so confused right now

Hey, pretending to be a dick was your idea, remember?

Yeah, one which you so eagerly wanted to execute

A corridor of darkness leading to Gexka's room opens up a few feet away from Aixus. Before walking through it, he turns to Gexka with a smirk. "Let's just call this mission an opportunity for you. You succeed, and you'll be in a favorable position. You fail and...well, failure often leads to death." Aixus reaches into his pocket. "Anyway, I think this 'fine example of Ethiopian craftsmanship' is your stolen treasure" He said pulling out the Ethiopian necklace that he had inexplicably stolen from Gexka when he patted his head. He tossed it to him and walked into the corridor, leaving it open for Gexka to walk through it.

Re: EXPANSION!!!!!

I shake my head as Aixus disappears into the portal. I can’t figure out what this guy wants me for. I have to admit though, he has earned a bit of my respect (in contrast to just fear); anyone who can rob me without my notice deserves at least that. I gather the scattered pieces of jewelry and stuff it all into my sack before following Axius through the dark portal.

After stepping out of the dark portal, I take a quick survey of my room. It looks exactly as I left it; completely unlived in. I stoop down and pull a small, empty, brown duffel bag from beneath the bed and replace it with my sack of loot. While I barely spend any time in this room, it makes a good bolt hole and a convenient place to store supplies that I might need. “So Aixus, for what reason are you giving me this opportunity? No offense, but you don’t exactly seem like the type of guy who does things out of the goodness of his heart. You don’t even seem like a team player for that matter.”

I begin moving around the room. From within my mattress I withdraw a bag of gold and silver coins which are widely accepted in both other countries and worlds. Next I pull open a drawer, and after removing a false bottom, pull out my largest lock picking kit. A few feet further on, I reach my hand into the wall and pull out a tightly wrapped bundle of black clothing. I then remove a few coils of piano wire and a throw able grappling hook that are taped to the inside of the lamp shade. From there I retrieve a small, collapsible crossbow from under the bathroom sink as well as two dozen bolts. I then open the medicine cabinet and remove several small, inconspicuous: bottles of various liquids, boxes of multicolored pills, and drawstring bags with a selection of powders. I also grab an assortment of other items from hiding spots throughout the room. The final items I retrieve from beneath the floorboards. The first is a green ball of highly compressed plant matter. The second is quite a sizable pillbox, with each compartment holding a few specialized plants seeds that I went to great lengths to modify.

I place all the items on the bed and take a quick survey of them. I give a nod of approval. These are what I usually take with me whenever go off world (with a few exceptions), and only my usual rations and canteen missing. I begin pack up the items.  Some of them I tuck into my coat, but most I carefully and neatly pack into the duffle bag, not wasting even a sliver of space. I then lay a casual set of clothes over everything before zipping the bag shut. Despite the many items packed into it, the bag does not bulge in any manner and continues to maintain its cassual appearance. I sling it over my shoulder and conceal it beneath my coat. “Okay, I’m ready.” All together I only took about fifteen minutes.

Aixus doesn't answer his question right away, he just stands and watches as Gexka gathers his things. Once ready, another corridor of darkness opens, leading to the world portal. Aixus walks out of the portal and it closes after Gexka walks out a few moments later. Aixus walks up to the computer console next to the portal and starts inputing information into it.

"It's true that I may not seem like a person that does things to be nice. It's also logical that I'm not a team player. In my current position, I'm at least the 3rd most capable member on the entire world, so teamwork is probably beneath me, right?" He pauses for a moment to look at Gexka before going back to the computer console. "One has to wonder though: How did I get to this position? How did I become a guardian? I started from the bottom; dusk-level bottom. In an organization where members are sent out on missions at least in pairs of 2's, teamwork is something that becomes essential; crucial even. That being said, I have my own view on teamwork. No matter how strong your opponent is, you'll always have an edge on him if you're a part of team; remember that." Aixus finishes imputing the information on the console.

Coordinates received. Please stand by while they are verified.

Aixus turns away from the console and takes a few steps forward until the city is in his field of vision. "Whether or not I'm a good person is not something that's up for me to decide. Everyone who's sane believes their actions to be justified, so me calling myself a good person doesn't really matter, because I'll always believe I am. That being said, my goal is to preserve our city and all of its inhabitants. The sole reason for why I do what I do is to protect my home and my people. Every action take, every task I perform, is for this reason." He then walks over to Gexka and puts his hand on his head once more. "That being said, no matter what happens on this mission or any other, if it comes down to it, I'll die before you do." He said with a smile.

Coordinates verified. Please confirm destination.

Taking his hand off of Gexka, Aixus begins to walk back to the console. "Don't worry, I didn't take anything this time." he said jokingly. Aixus confirms the destination, activating the world portal. "I'll brief you on the mission once we're on the other side." he says, before walking through the portal.

Once on the other side, they were greeted by plains of lush green grass with mountains and forests in the distance. Past one of the forests was a massive wall srounding a very large town. It was too far way to gather anymore information than that. Aixus just stands there, surveying the area while he waits for Gexka to walk through the portal.

“Hmph.” Interesting. Very interesting. I can’t argue with anything he’s said, but I have to wonder, ‘If I ever reached a point where I became powerful enough to never have to rely on anyone, would I?’ At the moment my answer is no I wouldn’t. There would simply be no point in depending on others.  However, I can only say that because I believe it is impossible to reach the point where you don’t need anyone or that point simply doesn’t exist. I guess I may have misjudged Aixus, thinking he believed he had already reached that point.

Aixus is throwing around some heavy words here. His next bit makes me pause and think even longer than his previous. My goal always used to be survival. Quite a while back I became strong enough that survival was no longer a priority. Since then I haven’t had a real goal. What Aixus says is true; if you have a goal, any step you take toward that goal is a good step. I would like to believe I’m a good person, but since I don’t have a goal (or a fully functional moral compass), I’m not taking any steps at all, good or bad.

I don’t know if I’m correctly interpreting how Aixus answered my question, but I’m going to go with it even if it’s wrong. I’m still dependent on others, but I’ve reached a point where others can now rely on me. I’ve failed to recognize that I’ve reached this point and without a goal the level I’ve achieved is completely wasted. However, it appears that others have recognized this, and I guess this mission is sort of like my wake up call. (Did that make sense to anyone else?)

Aixus has already stepped through the portal by the time I snap out of my reverie. Yeah, I seriously misjudged the guy. If everything he said is true, he deserves my admiration as well as respect.

I walk over to the console and look at the imputed coordinates. I don’t recognize them, so with a quick bounce I jump into the portal. On the other side, I take a second to orient myself. I breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the sunlight that is not a fabrication. I stretch my limbs and feel the grass around me ripple in response. After learning as much as I can with my senses, I turn to Aixus. “Well, brief away.”

The portal closes after Gexka goes through it. Aixus looks over at him when he asks to be briefed. "Do you see that castle over there, past the forest?" he said pointing to it. "Despite its looks, it's actually a very high tech place. It's not going to be easy to infiltrate." Aixus starts walking towards the forest as he speaks. "We need to intercept a certain courier for one of the king's high ranking guards. He'll most likely be riding through the forest on a carriage. We'll ambush them and take all their stuff." he looks at Gexka, raising a brow. "You...you don't have a problem stripping them of their belongings...do you?" he said jokingly.

"Anyway, you'll put on the courier's clothes and I'll take the driver's clothes. You'll go inside the actual castle while I stay outside. Don't worry, if anything happens, I'll be next to you in less than 0.01 seconds. Once inside, what you have to do is meet with the guard and hand him the couriers reports like always. However, there's a process in order to prevent assassins, like us. Before you hand the guard the reports, you have to start with the phrase, 'Y a-t-il une librarie....' After you hand him the reports, finish the phrase with, 'près d'ici?' that part is important, don't forget it. After you do that, you'll have to find the king's room. He'll be there if you infiltrate successfully. Once you find him, kill him in any way you see fit." At this point, they're already deep in the forest. Aixus stops next to a dirt road that formed up from carriages constantly passing through. "They're the only ones scheduled to enter the castle town today. Any last minute questions?" He asks Gexka, turning to him once more.

I frown in concentration as Aixus outlines the plan. It sounds simple enough and I have no problem with any of the potential risks though I do want to minimize them. I toss it around in my mind looking for holes. "I actually have quite few questions. Why don't we just portal in?" I assume this is because of the tech Aixus was talking about but I want him to confirm it. "How will I recognize this guard and the king?" I have no idea what any of these people dress like here. "Will the guard expect me to engage in any conversation with him?" I don't know if the guard and courier are on familiar terms.  "After the exchange with the guard, will I be allowed to move freely around the castle on my own?" It would complicate things if I had to sneak around too much. "Do you know where the king's room is?" I wish I had some blueprints of the place before running in. "If I am found out, do we continue the operation or pull out?" This will determine my course of action." At what point is stealth no longer the priority?" And once the king is dead how should I remove myself? Should continue to act as the innocent courier or book it out of there intangibly?"
While I'm speaking a large tree has slowly begun to lower itself across the road, completely blocking passage. It made no noise as it descended and looks as if it were uprooted by a storm. Of course I have some other questions about the reason we're doing this but decide to save them for after. I suddenly remember the most important question and mentally slap myself for almost forgetting it. "Oh, one more thing. When am I allowed to loot?"

Aixus scratches his head as Gexka asks his questions. His questions are resonable at first, but they start to get into the realm of common sense to any regular assassin. His inexperience was showing and Aixus forgot about it. "See what happens is, Gexka, that this castle is very secure as you go in. The only visitor that's expected to enter the castle today is the courier. They'll know you're the courier by your clothing. They'll escort you to the high ranking guard when you go in. Their mistake lies in the fact that they don't escort you out, they just let you leave, assuming you'll exit. For some reason, they let down their guard once you're inside, believing that they have done they're job good enough to know that you're not a threat." Just as he finishes a carriage stops behind the tree that Gexka used to block the road. "Hang on, our guests of honor are here. Nice going with the tree, by the way; very smooth. Let me take care of this, though." Aixus jumps on top of the tree and faces the carriage. The driver stands when he spots Aixus and the passenger stands as well.

The carriage was made of some sort of metal and the horse looked like it could pull way more than a steel carriage. The driver was wearing a baige cloak that covered everything but his hands and a matching hat. The courier was wearing an iron chestplate with some iron bracers and boots with a short baige cape and regular baige trousers and an iron helm that covered his head entirely.

Aixus creates two orbs of water the bigger than an average human head, one in each hand. "I'm sorry for what's about to happen next, fellas. People usually don't like the sensation you're about to feel...I wouldn't know though...I'm incapable of feeling it." He says just before his eyes start to glow cyan. He extends his arms forward, sending the two water water orb at the two men on the carriage. The orbs wrap around their heads and the outer part of them freeze, trapping their heads inside. Aixus then looks at Gexka again. "Anyway, as for all your other questions, I'll say this: sometimes we don't have a choice, but to go in blind. Your mission is simple: Assassinate th king. You do that how you see fit. Some missions are very specific in hiw they have to be carried out, but this mission is very flexible; it doesn't have to be done in any one way. No matter what happens, as long as the king is dead by the end of it all, we can do whatever we want. For this particular mission, at least." The struggling bodies of the two men become limp and Aixus lets them go. He jumps down from the tree and walks over to the driver's side. "Questions, comments, concerns?" He said, taking the drivers baige cloak and hat.

I nod a few times. It makes sense from an assassin's point of view, but my mindset is still that of a thief. I enjoy planning on the fly, but if I were going to rob a big place like this castle, I would have every step of the procedure laid out in detail with several backup plans just in case. Yeah I'm a bit nervous, but I trust my ability to bluff through a situation, plus I can always turn intangible, multiplied by the fact that Aixus has my back.
I walk over to the courier and strip him down to his undergarments. "This whole assassination thing just feels funny. It's almost like a heist but it's not." After changing  clothes, I transfer over my daggers, knives, and other junk from my clothes. "There's all the sneaking around and whatnot but the focus is always completely on the target. If this was a robbery my main concern would be escape, even if I didn't obtain what I was after." I slip on the armor and cape before stuffing all my clothes into my duffel bag. Finally, I reach down and pull off the courier's helmet. "And then there's the whole killing part..." I shake some icy water from the helmet and put it on my head. "You know I've never planned  to kill anyone before. I mean I've killed people, but I never deliberately planned to do so before hand. It just happens." I walk over to the carriage and hop in. I cast a last look at the men lying on the ground before a wave of grass completely covers them. "I have no idea where I was going with this. I guess my point is, I've never done anything quite like this before."

Aixus slips into his own disguise while Gexka talks. After putting everything on, he hops on the carriage. "It's definitely not something that's common for the average person." The carriage starts moving around the big tree in the way. "When you're in the castle, never let your guard down. Always be aware of your surroundings. Also, hesitation is your worst enemy, seriously, it's not your friend. Improvisation is a normal part of the job. Not everything is going to go to plan, too many variables get the plan off track. A lot of times, you'll have to get the plan on track by thinking of something in the spur of the moment. Just remember to keep improvised actions simple and efficient, no need for complicated scenarios. Oh here, take this." Aixus takes out a dagger from his coat.

It was a black dagger with some markings on the blade. The markings themselves faintly glow cyan. "Keep this on you at all times. It's imperative that you always keep this dagger on your person, okay?" he said, giving the dagger to Gexka. Aixus looks around the carriage and finds a brown satchel. Handing it to Gexka, he says, "Here, these are the reports for the high ranking guard, it's what you'll be handing him when you see him." At this point, they reach a wall half the size of the one they saw from the distance that served as a checkpoint for anyone wanting to enter the castle town. "They'll recognize you by what you're wearing. We just need to hand them the scroll." Aixus reaches into the satchel that Gexka has and pulls out a scroll.

Stopping the carriage next to the guard, Aixus hands him the scroll. The guard takes it and open it. He then starts pressing buttons on some sort of console. After he's  finished, he nods and hands the scroll back to Aixus. A portal then opens on the wall leading to the castle town. The carriage moves forward through the portal. "Well that was unexpected...that's very interesting..." Aixus looks over that Gexka. "Well this is where we part ways. You ready?"

I take the satchel and dagger from Aixus, concealing the dagger in my coat with my other weapons and hanging the satchel at my side. I hop out of the carriage and regard my surrounding. The carriage has stopped in what seems to be the town square. Some the townspeople turn and look at me but most hurry about their business, apparently accustomed to the courier’s visits.  A single soldier hurries forward and salutes me. I copy the salute and follow the soldier as he turns around and leads me to the far end of the square. As I walk I study the soldier. He is dressed almost identically to me but more plain and with a helmet that covers noticeably less of his face. At his side hangs a short sword, but he is also carrying what seems to be an assault rifle with a few extra features. At the far end of the square the soldier leads me through a straight but lengthy passage. On the other side we emerge into what I believe is the castle’s courtyard. Here people also bustle about their business. However, they are all dressed in the castle’s livery. The soldier turns, salutes me once more, and walks off.

I quickly scan the courtyard and locate the only person looking in my direction. He is a tall, burly man wearing a more ornate uniform than the both the soldier and me. I make my way toward him and, after waiting half a second to see if he’ll do anything, salute him. He returns my salute and looks at me expectantly. Speaking clearly, I utter the first set of words Aixus gave me. “Y a-t-il une librarie....” I then reach into the satchel and pull out a sealed package of papers. After handing it to the guard I say my next line. “près d'ici?” The guard nods, turns, and walks toward a shadowed arch at the side of the courtyard. Unsure if I’m dismissed, I remain where I’m standing, deciding it’s more lucrative to wait. The guard appears to be talking to someone and I switch to watching their energies to see this person. I lick my lips as the rich clothes of the hidden man come into sudden focus. I still have no idea who the guy is, but he wears no armor and has a thin circlet of gold around his head, so he must be who the guard reports to. The man takes the package from the guard and after inspecting the seals, hands the guard another smaller bundle. The man then turns on his heal and leaves before the guard can even salute. The guard returns to me and hands me the bundle without a word. After we exchange salutes, the guard lumbers off without a backwards glance. I smile; Aixus was right.

My smiles fades as I Look up at the castle. The place is huge and finding the king could take a very long time. Added to that, the inside of the castle is much more well-guarded than the outside. While I’m still seeing energy, I can look through the castle walls to the people within. There is a guard stationed at every corridor and an additional one or two at large or important rooms. My grin suddenly returns. Sure the place is huge, but the king’s own guards will help me find him. I quickly find the stable and as I’m sure I would, find a bunch of boys sleeping in the hay.  I ditch the uncomfortable armor I’m wearing and hide it deep under the ground. Without waking him (which is a considerable feat) I swap my clothes with one of the boy’s livery. I find my own quiet corner of the stable and lay down as well. I pull the cap down over my eyes and pretend to sleep. What I’m actually doing is scanning the huge castle for the largest group of guards and, hopefully, the king that’s with them. I give myself 15 minutes to find this group. If I can’t, I’ll just go in and begin searching the old fashioned way.

"Sire! We've the reports from the courier. Here you are, your majesty." A guard said to a very highly adorned male with blonde hair. He wore very expensive jewls and the fabric of his clothes were very made of very expensive thread. The man takes the reports and examines them. "I see, so it's that time already. This had to come sooner or later, it's what I was made for anyway." Handing the reports back to the guard that gave them to him, he said "Hand these to the emissary, tell him to prepare. I'll be in my quarters, resting." The man then turned and walked away. A group of guards followed as he went through a big door. The guards then stood outside the big door in a militaristic position.

The guard reaches the emissary's quarters and knocks on the door. The door opens and the guard hands over the reports to the emissary. "Oh? Is it that time already? If nothing else, this should, at the very least, be interesting." he said, closing the door.

“Bingo.” I check my internal clock. In only 6 minutes I’ve found a group that matches the criteria I’m searching for. Its batch of guards accompanying a single man. They are deep with the castle and I can’t quite distinguish the guards apart. However, the man they are guarding seems to exude his own aura of authority. Though reasonably speaking there is no way to truly know if this man is the king, my gut is telling me I’m right. I watch the man till he enters a large room without his guards, then to be safe I finish scanning the castle. I find a few more groups that could possibly be my target but none convict me like the first did.

I stand up and dust myself off, before exiting the stable. Just in time too, as a plump woman enters the stable and proceeds to yell at the sleeping boys. I’m stilling wearing the castle livery and walk into the castle through one of the servant entrances. No one gives me a second glance as I make my way through the servants’ passages, deeper and deeper into the castle. As I go, I drop a small seeds periodically behind me. Eventually, the number of the castle staff starts to thin. Finally the servants’ passages disappear altogether, fusing with the main corridors. At this point I stop using the corridors altogether and instead turn intangible and pass through the connected rooms to proceed. I have to be careful here, as the rooms are often occupied and I have to either wait until the occupants are distracted to sneak through or work my way around the entire room. (Naturally, the empty rooms still had a wealth of easily stolen trinkets.) When there is a corridor I absolutely have to cross, I distract the guard with a bit of plant that looks and acts like a cockroach.

I stop in the room right next to the chamber the man I presume to be the king is in. Peering through the wall (I never stopped looking at energy) I can see the king sitting in a large armchair. His eyes are closed and he appears to be dozing. I can now see just how rich his clothes and ornaments are. I really have no way to affirm his identity without giving myself away. Besides him, the chamber looks to be empty. Now would be the ideal time and place to strike. The chair is unfortunately facing in my direction, and it takes me a few more minutes to make my way around to the room on the other side of the chamber. I silently pass through the wall and creep up behind the armchair. I noiselessly pull out one of my daggers. Then, in one swift motion I wrap one arm around the king’s mouth and with the other slit his throat with the dagger. At the same time the wood in the chair surges up and wraps around him, holding him in place. I wait till the flow of blood from his throat finally slows before relaxing my grip on him.

I look at the door which still remains closed. It seems my deed has gone undetected. I walk around to the front of the chair and get my first real look at the man. He definitely has some of the more regal features of royalty. The wood of the chair that held him still gradually shrinks back to its original position in the chair, with only the torn fabric showing its involvement. A moment later I move forward and quickly strip the corpse of its jewels. I them move to a shadowy corner of the room. I’ll wait here till someone comes and finds the body. From their reaction I’ll be able to judge if it’s the king I’ve killed.

Re: EXPANSION!!!!!

Post by Enemy I on Sun Aug 02, 2015 10:41 pm

The sound of buzzing electricity begins as the man on the throne takes his last shuddering breath. The sound remains faint, no louder than crackling firewood in a neighboring room. It pauses for a split second before the room surges with electricity, several lightning-like arcs crossing down from the ceiling. In a neighboring room, a guard leans against the wall. His eyes narrow suspiciously as he directs his attention to the emissary. "They said his weakness is electricity. They better not be lying." The emissary smiles in response, pointing a finger at the small peephole into the throne room. "There's no way for him to escape. We've finally caught the assassin." The electric current continues to run through the throne room from electrical wiring within the walls. "Sure as hell took long enough."

Outside the room, a woman wearing armor marches in front of a set of guards. "You are to surround the entire perimeter of the throne room. Not a single soul is to enter or leave without permission from a general. Understood?" The soldiers murmur in agreement, causing her to grit her teeth and tugs the whip from her waist. With a flick of her wrist, the whip cracks in the air, and she bellows, "I said, is that understood?" This time there's a resolute response of "Yes, General!" from the amassed soldiers. The sound of swords unsheathing and soldiers moving to surround the room echo in the hallway.

I don't know what the buzz is, but I know it's coming from the two walls beside me. I leap from the corner to the middle of the room, only to realize the buzzing is coming from all sides. I drop to the floor and turn intangible, unsure of the threat. I become all too aware of the danger as my body is suddenly flooded with intense pain. With a monumental effort I raise my hand and snap my fingers, at the same time sending out a mental command. That's all I'm able to do as the pain turns to blinding agony as one of the lighting bolts rips through me. Scarcely able to think, I pass through the floor of the room and let myself fall, anything to get away from the pain. (When Gexka is intangible electricity passes though him like everything else. However, it still has the effect of causing him pain. It is much more excruciating when he is intangible because the path of the electricity is not blocked by his body and passes directly though his pain receptors.) Unfortunately for me, my body refuses to let my pain riddled mind slip into unconsciousness, instead deciding the best course of action is to force me tangible in the middle of the long fall. I smack into one of the lower floors of the castle, but with my mind still reeling from the immense shock it barely registers. Seeing as I can't move due to paralyzing pain, I reach the decision to lie there.
Elsewhere in the castle my last act does not go unanswered. Triggered by my command, the pre-prepared seeds I scattered earlier burst to life. Huge vines and tendrils erupt out of the tiny seeds, growing and spreading at an incredibly accelerated rate, fed by my store of energy and any external nutrients they find (they don't take from living sources). While the plants do not actively destroy things, they completely engulf anything in their path. They clog halls, jam machinery, ensnare people, and cause chaos in general. When the last of my accessible energy is finally spent, the plants stop growing and harden into a woody consistency. The entire castle has been brought to a standstill and is now a jungle.
Instead of wrapping around me, the vines have formed a sort of protective cocoon. I slowly sit up and breathe sharply in. I can now feel the extent of the damage from my fall. I have a dislocated shoulder, a few cracked
ribs, and am bruised from head to toe. Compared to before, I feel a thousand times better. Still, I'm hurt, my reserves are near exhausted, and my mind is tired and hazy. I reach into my coat and pull out a small box. It's filled with multicolored pills, most of which have been pulverized into powder. I pull out an intact, bright blue pill and toss it down my throat. It's effect is immediate as I feel the pain fade and I become disconnected from my body, seeming to view it from an overhead angle. I stand and force my arm back into place, not feeling a thing. I begin slowing limping forward, the plants parting before me. I can already feel some of the bruises fading. If I continue at this rate, everything but the most serious injuries will be healed by the time I exit the castle.

Aixus is just chillin in the high tech carriage, laying back with his arms behind his head and looking up at the sky and trying to find funny cloud shapes. The sky in the dark city didn't have clouds and it wasn't blue, so it was nice to see a nice blue sky with a nice amount of clouds. A kid in ragged clothing walks up to the carriage and knocks on the side to get Aixus' attention. "Hm?" Aixus said taking a look at the little boy standing there. "Please sir, if you could please spare some food; I'm very hungry." Aixus looks around the carriage, but finds no food. He did come across a bag filled with gold coins. "Gexka won't mind.....right?" looking at the kid, Aixus tosses the bag over to the kid. "Don't spend it all in one place." The kid's eyes widen and sparkle. "Oh no, I couldn't possibly ta-" "Just take it, kid. I don't need it and you do. Serious, go." As the grateful kid runs off, Aixus looks back at the castle only to find parts of it covered in vines. "Better go in to see if he's doing alright, it has been a pretty long time since he went in...." Aixus takes out a dagger with the same appearance as the one gave Gexka and throws it to the floor of the carriage and with that Aixus just vanishes.

Appearing right in front of the injured Gexka, Aixus quickly grabs Gexka incase he lost his balance. "I'm not even going to ask of you're okay; what the hell happened to you, kid? Here, hold still." Aixus slowly leads Gexka to the floor. He the engulfs Gexka's entire in water. "Hold your breath, by the way." The water starts to glow cyan, increasing Gexka's body's natural regeneration 100x. This, combined with his strange pill, gets him fully healed in less than ten seconds. It makes Aixus a little fatigued, but not too much due to Gexka's pill. "Okay, now I'll ask, are you okay?" He said as the water slowly evaporated.

I still don't have the strength to react, let alone resist, when Aixus suddenly appears in front of me and attempts to drown me. This drowning is strange though; instead of loosing my remaining strength, I can feel it rushing back. I slowly sit up and look as if I'm about to speak, but instead spew out a fountain of water at Aixus. "You know, a warning is only effective if it's given ahead of time." I stand to my feet and shake the remaining water off like a dog. "My body's good now thanks to you. But..." I gesture at the venerable jungle surrounding us. "Creating this took most of my energy. It'll be a while before I can do anything close to this scale." I finally look at Aixus and my expression is more serious. "They were expecting me, or you, or somebody. Well whoever it was they couldn't have rigged it any better. I located the man I believed to be the king, tracked him down, and slit his throat. I could have sworn I went completely undetected. But the next thing I know Zeus and Thor are flinging lightning bolts at each other; the whole room crackling with electricity. I fell through the floor to escape and created this mess as a diversion." I shrug. "And here we are. So, why were we setup?"
